Steve serves Balke Brown Transwestern as its CEO and is responsible for leading development, brokerage, commercial and residential property management.
Since joining founder Gary Balke in 1984, Steve has led the firm from its roots as an office developer to become a leading commercial real estate brokerage, asset management and development firm in the St. Louis area with expertise in office, retail, industrial, medical, and multi-family projects.
A creative thinker with a commitment to long term value, he has successfully directed the company’s expansion into a balanced full service real estate firm while gaining the respect and support of many institutional partners, private equity investors and lenders.
Steve is an active member of the following organizations:
- Board Member of the Today and Tomorrow Educational Foundation which helps over 4,000 economically disadvantaged children in the St. Louis region have a decent education
- Recognized in 2014 as the Developer of the Year by the City of St. Louis for leading the $200 million Highlands at Forest Park mixed-use development
- Past President of St. James the Greater School Board, past board member of St. Louis Entrepreneur Organization and Habitat for Humanity
Steve earned a Bachelor of Architecture Degree in 1982 from the University of Notre Dame and Masters in Architecture and Urban Design in 1984 from Harvard University.
