Steve is responsible for leading the team members of Balke Brown Transwestern to create long term ownership value through smart acquisition, asset management and leasing. He is also responsible for all real estate development activities.

Career Highlights

Since joining founder Gary Balke in 1984, Steve has led the firm from its roots as an office developer to become a leading commercial real estate brokerage, asset management and development firm in the St. Louis area with expertise in office, retail, industrial, medical, and multi-family projects.

A creative thinker with a commitment to long term value, he has directed the company’s expansion into a balanced full service real estate firm while gaining the respect and support of many institutional partners, private equity investors and lenders.

Steve has successfully led and sponsored the development of many significant Class A commercial real estate assets with an aggregate value of over $800 million in the St. Louis metro area including 16 office buildings totaling 1.3 million SF, 12 industrial buildings totaling 3.2 million SF and 7 multi-family projects totaling 1560 apartment units.

Education

Steve earned a Bachelor of Architecture Degree in 1982 from the University of Notre Dame and a Masters of Architecture in Urban Design in 1984 from Harvard University.
